FROM LUNCH TO LEGACY

Here’s how it happened, and the mindset that made it possible.

Last week may go down as the most impactful contribution I have ever made to Kenya’s development.

And for that, I am deeply grateful to God.

It all started a few months ago over lunch in Mombasa.

I was training the leadership of Trans Nzoia County on transformation and leadership when someone shared something that stopped me in my tracks:

🚨 “There is no university in the entire county.”

I’m not the government.
I don’t have billions to throw at the problem.
But I had something else: The GAP Doctrine.

(I wrote about this a few days ago — in short, it means before you complain, ask: What can I do?)

So, I picked up my phone and texted someone I believed could help.

Exactly one minute later, he called back and said:

“That’s a great idea. Let’s do it.”

That someone?
President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigeria’s former President and founder of Bells University of Technology.

From there, the journey began.
I met with Governor George Natembeya, who embraced the idea immediately.

Next thing — I led a team from Kitale to meet President Obasanjo in Nigeria.

They were blown away — not just by the university, but by the hospitality and vision.

💥 And now, it’s official:

A high-powered delegation from Nigeria — led by the Vice Chancellor of Bells University — visited Kitale last week.
An MOU has been signed.

📍 Bells University of Technology is coming to Kitale.

Let that sink in.
From a lunch conversation... to legacy-level impact.

The ripple effects?

  • 🎓 Education

  • 💼 Jobs

  • 🌍 International exposure

  • 🏗️ Infrastructure

  • 🕊️ Generational change

🧠 If what we know is not building where we are, then why do we know what we know?

To President Obasanjo and Governor Natembeya — thank you for your trust and partnership. 🙏🏽

To you reading this:
When the next big opportunity knocks…
Will you be ready?

Never disqualify yourself.
Use the GAP Doctrine. Ask:

  • What can I do?

  • What do I know?

  • Who can I connect?

As for me?

I’m already asking:

What’s the next gap to close?

Let’s roll.
I am a happy man!
